Summer fun and your hair...
Summer has finally arrived, I think...
What does that mean for your hair care routine?! Pools, lakes, motorcycles, and windows down; it all sounds like my favorite day but your hair requires a little extra love during all this summer fun.
Chlorine can build up on the hair wreaking havoc on the condition of your hair. Chlorine will dry out the hair to start with - causing frizz, making hair unmanageable, and the ends actually become limp and feel over processes (in some cases turn the hair green). This build up also affects 1. how your hair access color and conditioning treatments 2. how your hair holds style and how product feels in the hair.
How to prevent chlorine build up
- Get the hair as wet as possible before entering the pool - added bonus for a braid and some leave in conditioner
- Rinse and shampoo the hair as soon as leaving the pool - don't allow the chlorine water to dry in the hair as it won't all come out when shampooing
- Use k18 Detox Shampoo weekly during swim season.
- Use Vitamino Leave In for UV protection
If you're like me, I love going to the lake and pool but I am not a fan of getting my hair wet there. That doesn't mean my hair doesn't take a beating in the sun. I prefer a braid and baseball hat following a good leave in to keep the hair as protected as possible.
